The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced the Jay-Z Super Bowl halftime show on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. Jay-Z will perform on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium, and the league's release puts the telecast on ESPN, ABC and Disney+.

What the Jay-Z Super Bowl halftime release says

The NFL's release says Jay-Z, whom it also calls Carter, will perform at the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027. A companion story on NFL.com places the stadium in Inglewood, as does the AP's account on NPR. SoFi Stadium sits in Inglewood. The release uses Los Angeles, the metro name.

The show airs on ESPN, ABC and Disney+, and on phones through NFL+. A Spanish telecast will run on ESPN Deportes and Disney+, with a separate Spanish presentation on Univision. Roc Nation will executive produce the telecast. Hamish Hamilton will direct. Roc Nation also stays on as the strategic entertainment advisor for the performance.

Jay-Z said in the release, "From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey." He added, "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true."

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league has worked with Jay-Z and Roc Nation for several years. "When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAŸ-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. I couldn't be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage."

Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of music and international content, said, "We've had the privilege of working closely with him these last few years to bring some of the world's most exciting and prolific artists to the Super Bowl Halftime Show stage and we are so thrilled that he will be taking that stage himself this year." CBS Sports reported that Jay-Z has not named any guest performers. The release does not name any either.

What Jay-Z told Goodell in 2019

The AP reported that Roc Nation has partnered with the NFL since 2019 to help produce the halftime show and other league entertainment. At the time, the AP reported, Jay-Z told Goodell, "If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now." The AP wrote, "Seven years later, Jay-Z is ready to perform after all."

NFL.com's news story says headliners since the partnership have included Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny. The release says the Super Bowl LX show starring Bad Bunny is the most Emmy-awarded halftime show, with seven wins, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live) and Outstanding Music Direction. It says the Super Bowl LIX show starring Kendrick Lamar was the most watched halftime show and won the Emmy for Outstanding Music Direction.

NFL.com said the announcement was made during the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game on ESPN. The AP described it as news from the night of Monday, Oct. 26. The release timestamp on NFL.com is 2:00 a.m. UTC on Tuesday, Oct. 27, which was 10 p.m. Eastern on Monday, Oct. 26.

The tour that closed at SoFi

The release calls 2026 the year of Jay-Z 30, a celebration of the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. It says he set attendance records with three sold-out concerts at Yankee Stadium and sold-out shows in London, Paris and Los Angeles. NFL.com adds that the SoFi dates were Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, and that the tour also marked the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.

The AP gave a fuller guest list than the league's news story. At SoFi, it reported, his daughter Blue Ivy played piano on "The Story of O.J." and "Dead Presidents." It said Scarface, John Legend and DJ Khaled joined on opening night, and that Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Too $hort appeared at the finale. Those nights are the Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, shows NFL.com listed. Earlier, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Eminem and Nas were among the guests at Yankee Stadium. The NFL news story lists Blue Ivy Carter, John Legend, DJ Khaled, Too Short, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg as tour guests. It does not split them by night, and it does not name Scarface, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Eminem or Nas.

The release calls Jay-Z the first hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a four-time Emmy winner, a 25-time Grammy winner and a 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. The AP dated the Songwriters Hall induction to 2017 and said he has 89 Grammy nominations, second to Beyoncé. NFL.com says Beyoncé headlined the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show and was a special guest at Super Bowl 50. The AP also said he was born Shawn Carter, co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and founded Roc Nation in 2008.

The announcement does not say who else will stand on the stage on Feb. 14, 2027, how long the set will run, or which songs he will play.
